RANE, SHRI  SHIVRAM RANGO, M.A., LL.B., Cong., (Maharashtra—Buldana—1967):  s. of Shri Rango Rane; b. at Vill. Vivra (Bk.), Distt. Jalgaon, Maharashtra, 1901; ed. at Amalner High School, Amalner, G. G. High School, Jalgaon, Ferguson College and Law College, Poona; m. Shrimati Rambhabai, 1915; 3 s. and 3 d.; Practised at the Bar, 1930—52; defended almost all the Railway derailment cases that arose on account of ‘Quit India’ Movement, from East Khandesh; Vice-President from 1942—66 and President since March 1966, of the ‘Shikshan Mandir’. Jalgaoan, which started a Primary Training College for Women in 1942; First Honorary Secretary and Member of the Managing Council for several years of the Khandesh College Education Society, Jalgaon, which started Arts and Science Collage in 1945; President ,since 1960 of the Tapi Valley Education Society  , which  started the   Arts and Science Collage at Faizpur in 1951; one of the editors of ” Rashtra Sevak” , a  Marathi weekly , 1947-50;  Member , Managing  Council  , Harijan  Kanya   Chhatralaya , Jalgaon since 1947 and  its  Chairman since 1957 to  March  ,1966, President, since 1961, for about  3 year of East Khandesh Kushta Seva Mandal , Bhusawal, Member (i)  Maharastra Pradesh  Congress  Committee since 1950, (ii)  A.I.C.C. since 1954-63 , (iii)  Bombay Legislative  Assembly , 1947-51 , and Chief Whip of  Bombay  Assembly , 1951-52, (iv) Bombay  state Prohibition  Board ,1947-52,  (v)  Court of  the Poona  University ,1948-51, (vi)  Export  Advisory  Council,1953-59 and  (vii) Indian Central Cotton  Committee ; Vice-Chairman, District  Prohibition  Committee of  Khandesh, 1948-52;  Member ,  First  Lok  Sabha ,1952-57,  Second  Lok  Sabha , 1957-52, Third  Lok  Sabha ,  1962-67,  Estimates  Committee,  1952-54  and  1962; Government  Deputy  Chief  Whip  and  Deputy  Chief  Whip  of  Congress  Party  in Lok  Sabha,1957-66;  Member,  Railway  High  Power  Committee on Security and Policing;  Member, Defence  Study  Team,   Administrative  Reforms  Commission.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Social work, reading and radio listening.
