Delhi-New Delhi—1971, Daughter of Shri Anadi Charan Mukherjee; b. at Varanasi, December 7, 1925; ed. at Delhi University, Vishwa Bharati University, Harvard University, U.S.A., School of International Languages, New Delhi (French) and School of Indian Languages, New Delhi (Tamil); m. Shri Bhawani Prasad Banerjee’, January 17, 1963; Journalist and Social Worker; Secretary, Foreign Relations Deptt. and Convener Congress Women’s Front, A.I.C.C; Editor “Women On The March” (English) and “Mahila Pragati Ke Path Par” (Hindi); President, All India Women Voters’ Association; Hony. Treasurer, Institute of Democracy and Socialism; Ex-Member, Standing Committee, All India Newspapers Editors Conference and Ex-Hony. Treasurer of the AINEC; helped Tunisia, Algeria, Zambia in securing a large measure of help and support for their liberation movement from India; attended memorable SFAX convention of Tunisia in 1955 where she was decorated with “Nishan-e-Iftikhar”; represented Indian National Congress at the Independence celebrations of Zambia at the special invitation of President Kenneth Kaunda; represented India at a U.N.
