JASROTIA, THAKUR BALDEV SINGH, B.A., LL.B., Janata, (Jammu and Kashmir—Jummu—1977):  s. of Shri Narayan Singh: b. at Poona, June 18, 1919; ed. at Punjab University, Lahore; m. Smt. Bimla Devi, 1945; 4 s. and 3 d.; Advocate; previously associated with Jan Sangh; went to jail in 1949 and 1952 for merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India and for abrogation of article 370 of the Constitution; led food agitation as Chief of Jan Sangh in 1970 and courted arrest; also courted arrest in 1971 for liberation and recognition of Bangladesh; President, Jan Sangh, Jammu and Kashmir for four years; remained Chief of the Rajputs in Jammu and Kashmir many times.

Favourite pastime and recreation:  Gardening and hunting.

Sports and clubs:  Hockey, football, athletics, remained Captain of Hockey Eleven.
