B.S. Abdur Rahman University, Vandalur, Chennai-600 048, (formerly B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Engineering College) has been established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The University is located in the outskirts of Chennai city on the G.S.T. Road, (Chennai-Trichy National Highway) 7 km from Tambaram and 2 km from Vandalur Railway Station and 17 km from the International Airport. B.S Abdur Rahman Crescent University has an exclusive Placement and Training Cell. Every year, the process is streamlined as per convenience of students and recruiters. The placement process begins with Pre-placement talks by companies, usually scheduled in the month of August and the placement process commences from the month of September. Participation by a large number of reputed organizations year-after-year for recruitment bears testimony to the reputation companies have for the institution.

The primary function of the placement office is three fold, the first and foremost is creating awareness about the placement process through a series of awareness programmes. The next task is to train them to face the forthcoming placement seasons through a set of placement training through experts in the sector. Eligibility Criteria:

ELIGIBILITY FOR B.Tech. PROGRAMME

1. Candidates should have passed 12th standard examination conducted by State Board / CBSE / ICSE or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 70% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. For Biotechnology a Minimum 70% aggregate in Mathematics (or) Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

2. Candidates should have appeared for the Engineering Entrance Examination (BSAUEEE) conducted by the University or should have a valid score in JEE (Main).

3. Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full time and Formal Education alone are eligible to apply.

ELIGIBILTY FOR B.Arch. PROGRAMME

Candidates are selected for admission to B.Arch. Programme based on their merit in Qualifying Examination (10 +2) and score obtained in NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture).

Candidates should have passed 10 +2 examination (HSC/ CBSE /ICSE etc.) or any other equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% of Marks and Mathematics as one of the subjects of study.

Candidates should have minimum score of 40% in NATA.

The date of birth of candidates should fall on or after 1st July, 1995.

About BIST

The first self-financing Engineering College in the name of Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) was started in Tamil Nadu in 1984 by Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust, established by the academic visionary Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan. The trust then started Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, in 1989. Bharath University gives great importance to the welfare of its students. It has separate fully equipped hostel facilities for boys and girls. 5 hostels are located in Bharath University campus. Health Center

Primary health care center takes care of the health of the students. All students in hostels are checked regularly on monthly basis by the doctors of the university hospital. The university hospital has full-fledged hospital facilities with ICU and emergency care for 24 hours. An ambulance is always standby for any medical emergency. All medicines and investigation are provided free of charge to all students and faculty.

Guest House

All visiting parents and guests can stay in the fully furnished air-conditioned guesthouse in the respective campuses. More than 100 guests can stay at the same time.

About MIT

In 1949, Shri. C. Rajam, gave the newly independent India-Madras Institute of Technology, so that MIT could establish the strong technical base it needed to take its place in the world. Placement Support:

The Placement Cell of MIT is responsible for co-ordination placement activities for both the PG and UG students and is attached to the Center for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC) of Anna University. Candidates for admission into the first semester of the 8 semester B.E/B.Tech. degree programme should have passed:

1. The Higher Secondary Examination of ( 12th) Curriculum (Academic Stream ) prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as three or four subjects of the study prescribed under part III or any other examination of any university or authority accepted by the syndicate of the Anna University as equivalent thereto.

3. The candidate shall have not completed 21 years of age as on first of July of the year of application. For candidates belonging to SC/ST the age limit is relaxable by three years.
4. Any other Examination of any other authority accepted by the syndicate of the Anna University as equivalent thereto.

Infrastructure:

Engine and chassis components Laboratory

To enhance the practical knowledge of the students, engines from some renowned industries are displayed (Ashok Leyland, Ford etc.). The various components of an automobile are also displayed (clutch, gearbox etc.). In this lab, the students will study about the basic principle involved in chassis components and engine components. And the students will perform various experiments like dismantling and assembling of engine and chassis components.

As failure is stepping stone to success , it is rightful to say testing is the important quality of the vehicle. Hence this lab consists some eddy current dynamometers of various capacities, exhaust analyzers and a two/three /four wheelers chassis dynamometers. It is a great honor for us to say that we are the only Educational institute to have the chassis dynamometer in India. The Students will come to know about the basics of how the engine and the vehicles are tested in the companies.

Automotive Electronics Laboratory

These days all automobiles are becoming electronically equipped. So students have to learn about these electronic techniques. In this automotive electronics lab the equipments available are a stepper motor interface, a LVDT module, DC servo motor system, ADC & DAC interface board, High speed PCI based data acquisition system, etc. Students have to do a Mini project (regarding Electronics) in this lab.

Automotive design and analysis laboratory

Design and analyzing of components is the key factor for engineering which is done in this lab. This lab consists of nearly 50 computers with latest configurations. Designing and simulating software’s are used for designing and analyzing.

The University Placement department offers placement assistance focusing on the overall development of the candidate. The department has coined multiple training programs to equip the students to be Industry ready, holding a futuristic multidisciplinary perspective of the real world job demands. B. Tech Programmes:

Admission criteria:

The Educational Pedagogy of the University imbibes CDIO framework in the curriculum, that broadens the student’s knowledge and imparts awareness in their areas of Engineering. The undergraduate curriculum at Veltech Dr.RR & Dr.SR University allows considerable flexibility through CBCS (Choice Based Credit System).

VELTECH Research Park:

To initiate and execute joint R&D between Industry & University and to further facilitate the Industries to interact with the HR of the University, Vel Tech has created a research park within its campus with a total capacity to accommodate 80 Laboratories. 17 labs were occupied with different funded research projects, Joint Centers of Excellence with Dassault System, France & National Instruments, USA and Industry funded facilities. Research Funding: The University has been funded with over INR 15.49 Crores by various Government funding agencies like DST, DRDO, GITA (Indo Taiwan) etc., and Private Industries for various Research Projects. Research projects are also supported by the sponsoring Trust internally. So far 26 projects worth Rs.1.73 crores have been funded by the sponsoring Trust besides investing on infrastructures like Research Park, Engine Test Facility and Centres of excellence in various fields. Also, the University has been funded with INR 1.01 Crores by DST, DRDO, CSIR, DAE etc. for organizing various National and International events.
