About the College
St. Joseph’s College Of Engineering is situated in the midst of most of the leading Companies at the Old Mahabalipuram Road in Chennai. It was started in the year 1994 with the notion of catering to the needs of manpower in technology for the country. With the students and staff drawn from most of the states of our country, the students were exposed to various social, economic and cultural lives. Ever since its established it has its speedy growth in Co-curricular, Extracurricular and Academic activities. It offers Under Graduate Courses for ten branches and Post Graduate Courses in ten disciplines of Science Engineering and Technology.Considering the Teaching Faculty, our College has Profound Professors with the qualification of PhD and Post Doctorates.
The Colleges are approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The courses offered are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The colleges are totally free from Ragging. Training and Placement Support:
Campus Recruitment starts after the completion of sixth semester. Invitations are extended and accepted from the College as well as from the company respectively, well in advance in the form of mails and brochures. According to the criteria given by the Companies, the students are segregated. Based on the criteria, students register in the Placement Centre. Once the company confirms, the placement Officer gets in touch with the Companies and fix up the convenient date for the Campus Placement Process. Resume from the eligible candidates are collected for the Company Reference. Halls are suitably arranged for Written Tests, Presentation, Group Discussion, Activities and Personal Interviews. On the day of the interview Pre-Placement talk is given by the recruiters using OHP, Overhead Projector, Slide Projector, LCD and Laptops. Online Test facilities are provided. Pickups/drop from local facilities will be arranged. Due hospitality is given for the recruiters. List of selected candidates and offer letters are handed over to the Placement Officer at the end of the process. The recruiters are requested to give the feedback of the quality of the students so that it could improve the quality of the students to the previous years. Many companies participate in placement process every year with the package of handsome salary.

It nurtures Industry institute interaction and moulds and mentors the students to be fit for the placement. Infrastructure and Facilities:
The Colleges have seven Audio visual halls for conducting seminars and other Co-curricular and extracurricular activities. All the class rooms are equipped with LCD projectors and necessary teaching aids.The student co-operative store supplies all text books, notebooks, records, observations, drawing boards, mini-drafters etc. The stationery stores supply all drawing sheets, graph sheets, polar graph sheets, pen, pencil and other essential materials. The store which is situated in the campus provides items for day to day use. We have separate sections for printing and binding lab manuals, note book materials, mini-project reports, In plant training reports and final year project reports at free of cost. The Indian bank branches in the colleges assist the students in their financial transactions. We have two separate ATMs functioning for boys and girls. The colleges have two sophisticated Gymnasiums for boys and girls. The colleges have two beauty parlours for girls and saloon for boys. It have intercom facilities which connect everyone in the college. In the hostel, every room has intercom connections. It have a fitness centre with a qualified staff to monitor and guide the students. A qualified physician assisted by a staff nurse takes care of the sick in the college.
The college orchestra comprising of our own instruments and students proves to be a platform to display the talents of upcoming musicians. Movies are screened for hostel students in the open air theatre. Free washing and ironing facility is provided for the students. We have a bakery which provides delicious items for the students. The juice stall which is attached to the campus quenches the thirst of students. The colleges have a Chapel, Mosque and a Temple (Trinity) to cater to the religious needs of our students. The colleges have fully air-conditioned library spread over a total area of 45000 / 40000 sq.ft. The Central library and the Book Bank house 2,17,505 Volumes and 29,618 Titles. The Central library has 16,485 titles and 44,379 volumes whereas the Book bank has 13,133 Titles and 1,73,126 volumes. The colleges have subscribed 179 National Journals. The students can also have access to more than 3813 e-journals. There are more than 367 e-books available for ready reference. The e-resorces include IEEE, ASME, Springerlink, J-Gate, Proquest, ASTM, McGraw-Hill Access Engineering, Nature, Science Direct and Scientific American.
