Bemetara district was carved from Durg district and the new district came into existence in 14 January 2012. The fort is located on the northern edge of the district. The total area of the district is 2854.81 sq km district and the total population is about 795334. The district is divided into 2 sub-divisions, 5 Tehsils, 4 Blocks and 708 revenue villages. The district has one Nagar Palika Parishad and 7 Nagar PanchyatS. The district has one Parliamentary constituency and three Asssembly Constituencies. Bemetara district is predominantly agricultural district. The main crops of Kharif paddy, soybean, pigeon pea etc. and main rabi crops of wheat, gram, flaxseed, mustard etc
