Tourist Places :

Gangana Chukki and Bara Chukki Falls

To the South – East on a deviation road 3 km. from Dargah is the Bara Chukki located in Kollegala Taluk. Here the eastern stream of the Cauvery flows rather hurriedly falling into a rocky valley forming three cascades with a thunderous sound. The surrounding of the water fall is in beautiful settings.

Location: The Camp is located at Kyathadevara Gudi(K. Gudi) within B..R. Hills Sanctuary limits which is just 86 kms from Mysore and 225 kms from Bangalore (Via Mysore) . An alternate road from Bangalore is Via Kollegal just 185 km. away. K. Gudi is also close to Coimbatore, just 175 km away (Via Chamarajangar)

The camp is open throughout the year. Situated at an altitude of 3300 ft. to 5000 ft., the sanctuary offers salubrious climate all the year round. Wild life sighting is excellant at all times, irrespective of the season.

Accommodation: Eight twin bedded tented cottages, three ethnic log huts on stilts and well furnished rooms at the Maharaja’s Hunting Lodge, can easily accommdate 35 to 40 guests at a time. The K. Gudi Camp also provides an ideal setting for hosting meetings and conferences.


Survarnavathi Reservoir

Survarnavathi Reservoir is 16 km. from Chamarajanagar. Net Storage Capacity of the Dam is 1258.76 mft., length of overflow of dam – 160 ft. Top width of dam is 18 ft. Cost of the project is 299.60 lakhs. The Scenic beauty of a dam is breathtaking and is a spot worth visiting. Wild Elephants can be seen moving about freely during May – June.


Kanakagiri Siddakshetra

The Kanakagiri hill has been described by ancient historians and writers as Nakopama Shaila, meaning a hill in the form of a Heaven. Since ancient times Srikshretra kanagiri was one of popular Jain centres of the world. Kanakagiri situated near Maleyur in Chamarajanagar District was well known for its sandalwood and rich forestry around it. One can find a mention of Kanakagiri in the ancient Jain works. The inscriptions, engraving of footprints, Samadhi mantapas and Nishadi caves and other monuments throw much light on the inherent and rich heritage of the place. These stand as an edifice to the antiqutiy of the place and also the gamut of Jaina saints who here. Furhter more there also reflect the extent and depth of religion importance in an impressive manner.
