About Saiha District :

Saiha District is one of the eight districts of Mizoram state. The district is bounded on the north and northwest by Lunglei district, on the west by Lawngtlai District and on the south and east by Myanmar. The district occupies an area of 1399.9 sq.km. Saiha town is the administrative headquarters of the district. According to the 2011 census, Saiha district has a total population of 56,574. Saiha is the administrative headquarters of Saiha district. It is the third largest town in Mizoram after Aizawl, the state capital and Lunglei. Tuipang, Sangau, Phura and Bualpui NG are the other main towns in Saiha district. The district has 3 Rural Development Blocks,namely Siaha, Sangau and Tuipang.

Tourist Places :

Palak Wildlife Sanctuary :

130 km to the south west of the town of Saiha lies an exquisite display of biodiversity in the Palak Wildlife Sanctuary. It is situated in the Lakher region, which lies on the southern part of Mizoram.

Not the biggest of wildlife sanctuaries, it is spread across 15.50 sq. km of land. This place is sanctified with all the invigorating qualities of mother nature. To add to that, the Sanctuary also boasts of a range of species like the sambar, barking deer, leopard, elephant and rhesus macaque. The breeze here is simply beautiful and rejuvenating, do visit it.

Palak Dil :

Palak Dil, also known as Pala Tipo which is Mizo for ”swallowing lake” is the located in Phura village in Saiha district, a few km away from the town of Saiha.

It is also the largest lake in Mizoram. The location of this place in particular is pretty rich in nature given the fact that it is located in the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot and is in abundance of verdant environs. As it is a major component of the Palak Wildlife Sanctuary, it is also blessed with a lot of flora and fauna
