SAINIK SCHOOL AMBIKAPUR
One among the twenty three schools all over country, Sainik School Ambikapur is situated in the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. Ambikapur is located in the northern part of Chhattisgarh state of India. Borders of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Orissa, and Madhya Pradesh states are adjoining to the district. This district has over extension between south-eastern parts of Vindhyanchal – Baghelkhand region of peninsular India.
The aim of instituting a Sainik School in the state of Chhattisgarh was to prepare the youth of the state academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy/Naval Academy and to Technical Entry Schemes. In addition to the above the other objective includes removal of regional imbalances in the officer cadre of the Defence forces, development of good qualities in physical, mental and moral spheres of a child and to bring the dream of public school education within the reach of the common man.
Sainik School Ambikapur is the only school of its kind in the State of Chhattisgarh providing residential, public school education (affiliated to CBSE) to the youth of this state. This is more popularly known as a feeder institution to the prestigious National Defence Academy/Naval Academy and to Technical Entry Schemes. This school has started functioning in a temporary accommodation at Bishunpur Road, Ambikapur with effect from 01 Sep 2008.
Permanent construction on 84 acres site at Mendra Kalan is in full swing. Academic Block of the School was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor Mr. Shekhar Dutt, VM on 30 Sep 2013. Construction of second phase was inaugurated on the same date. The building is likely to be finished by 31 Mar 2014.
At Present, Captain (IN) G Rambabu is the principal w.e.f 07 Feb 12 and lt. cols s Singh, AEC is the Headmaster w.e.f 14 May 2011
The motto of the school is “Keep Moving”.
At present, this school is running in temporary accommodation which has, Academic-cum- Administrative Block consisting of Class Rooms, Well furnished Computer Laboratory, Library, and administrative Offices. The cadets are accommodated in a temporary building consisting of accommodation for 451 boys, Mess and Kitchen. Boys are divided in eight ‘houses’ specially designed and tailored to meet all the specification of a residential school. Each house Holds 56 cadets approximately.
