The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Sh.Bhupinder Singh Hooda; the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana in the presence OF Sh.MM Pallam Rajasthan Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri and Sh.Rao Inderjit Singh, then Hon’ble Raksha Utpadan Rajya Mantri .This institution is the 24th SAINIK SCHOOL in the country and the 2nd SAINIK SCHOOL in the state of HARYANA.

This school is temporarily functioning from Govt. Girls College located at sector-4, Rewari. The present strength of this school is 393 cadets studying in classes VI to X Classes XI and XII will be functional in the academic sessions 2014-15 and 2015-16 respectively. The main campuses of the school will come up/at Gothra Tappa Khori; Rewari District spread over 50 acres of land. The construction of the school complex with adequate accommodation and facilities is under progress.

SAINIK SCHOOL AMBIKAPUR

The aim of instituting a Sainik School in the state of Chhattisgarh was to prepare the youth of the state academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy/Naval Academy and to Technical Entry Schemes. In addition to the above the other objective includes removal of regional imbalances in the officer cadre of the Defence forces, development of good qualities in physical, mental and moral spheres of a child and to bring the dream of public school education within the reach of the common man.

Sainik School Ambikapur is the only school of its kind in the State of Chhattisgarh providing residential, public school education (affiliated to CBSE) to the youth of this state. This is more popularly known as a feeder institution to the prestigious National Defence Academy/Naval Academy and to Technical Entry Schemes. This school has started functioning in a temporary accommodation at Bishunpur Road, Ambikapur with effect from 01 Sep 2008.

Permanent construction on 84 acres site at Mendra Kalan is in full swing. Academic Block of the School was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor Mr. Shekhar Dutt, VM on 30 Sep 2013. Construction of second phase was inaugurated on the same date. The building is likely to be finished by 31 Mar 2014.

Being situated in the ‘Scotland of Karnataka’, obviously the School has a picturesque landscape surrounded by hills beside the Harangi River, a tributary of Kaveri which gushes down merrily near Kudige which is a little distance away from Kushalnagar town.

SAINIK SCHOOL PUNGLWA (NAGALAND)

BRIEF HISTORY: Sainik school Punglwa, the twenty first Sainik School of the country was inaugurated on 12 May 2007 at Punglwa (Nagaland) by Shri A K Antony, Defence Minister, Government of India. His Excellency Shri K Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Nagaland, Shri Neiphiu Rio, Chief minister of Nagaland, Shri M M Pallam Raju , Raksha Rajya MantrI, the entire State Government Ministers and other dignitaries of Nagaland and Ministry of Defence were also present during the inaugural ceremony.

It is the third Sainik School in the north eastern region. The other two are Sainik School Goalpara(Assam) rose in the year 1964 and Sainik School imphal (Manipur) established in the year 1971. It was on the initiative of the Nagaland chapter of the old boys association of sainik schools under the present Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri Neiphiu Rio , who himself is alumnus of Sainik School Purulia that the idea of establishment of Sainik School was mooted. A brief timeline of establishment of the school is as under:

Administration: Maj Gen Deepak Saxena, Chief of Staff, HQ 3 corps is the chairman of Local Board of Administration.

Staff and Cadets: The present strength of officers & staff is 102 (including 02 PTIs) and cadets is 592 ( (including 08 day scholars).

Academic: Admission to class VI & IX is granted strictly on the basis of an All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination which is conducted simultaneously at various centres throughout India in the month of January. The designated centres in Nagaland and Arunanchal Pardesh are Dimapur, Kohima, Pungalwa(School Campus), Itanagar and Tawang.

There are six houses (Tizu, Zapfu, Saramati, Melak, Doyang and Patkai) and four Holding Houses (Dhansin, Dzukou, Shiloi and Pauna).

Sainik School Gopalganj is situated at its temporary location at Hathwa Raj Guest House, Hathwa in Gopalganj Distt of Bihar. The nearest Railway Station is Siwan Jn which is 20 Km away from the school. The State Govt of Bihar has allotted 48.84 acres of land to school at Sipaya village of Kuchaikot Block of Gopalganj district for construction of its permanent building. The construction of the school building is going on and in due course of time will shift to its permanent location.

The school is managed by the Local Board of administration (LBA) under the Chairmanship of the General Officer Commanding, Jharkhand & Bihar Sub Area.

Sainik School Ghorakhal is one among the 25 Sainik Schools under the aegis of the Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence and is the only school in the state of Uttarakhand. It was established in March 1966 on the magnificent estate of Nawab of Rampur. It is located approximately 04 Kms from Bhowali and 16 Kms from Nainital. SAINIK SCHOOL REWA

The school has a well stocked library with a reading room and Internet facility to cater for the varied interests of the students. The school has its own auditorium named Manekshaw Auditorium, where morning assembly, movies, important School functions and activities are conducted.

All cadets are accommodated in Dormitories/Hostels under direct supervision of respective Housemasters who act as their guides and guardians. The Housemasters are assisted in their job by Matron/Hostel Superintendents/Ward boys who take care of the cadets’ personal need, hygiene and comforts. All cadets dine together in the Cadets’ Mess. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are prepared and served according to the nutritional needs and choice of the cadets. The School has a part-time Medical Officer. He is assisted by a qualified Nursing Assistant. In case of serious illness, boys are transferred to the Government Civil Hospital/ Medical College.

Co-curricular Activities: While greater emphasis is laid on the academic progress of the boys, the School provides ample scope for development of their creative faculties, skills, public speaking by way of organising quiz, debate, declamation, lecturette etc. The boys are encouraged to take an active interest in all these activities.The school provides facilities for major games like Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Badminton, Handball, Baseball, Cricket and Hockey.
