Mira, May 17, 1947; Advocate and Educationist; participated in ‘Quit India Movement’ in 1942, and was detained in Nasik Jail for 20 months; previously associated with the Communist Party of India till 1951; Left active politics in 1951 and joined Congress (I) in 1979; Secretary, Ahmednagar Zila Maratha Vidva Prasarak Samaj, Ahmednagar, an educational institution running 1 Law College, 3 Arts and Commerce Colleges, 1 Science College, 38 Secondary Schools and 13 Hostels, 1 Ashram  and 1 B.Ed. College (having 18,000 students on their rolls); President, District Bar Association, 1975-79; Vice President,  Maharashtra Indo-Soviet Friendship Organisation; visited U.S.S.R. in connection with a function organised by the Indo-Soviet Friendship Organisation.
