Jessore, 1900; ed, at Jadavpur Engineering College; Unmarried; Wholetime political worker; was a member of the “Jugantar Revolutionary Party (West Bengal)” from 1918; Had to discontinue studies owing to long detention from 1924; Took leading part in the Chittagong Armoury Raid in 1930; Joined the Communist Party of India in 1938; Member, Legislative Assembly, West Bengal, 1952—67.
