Answer any FIVE questions in about 75 words each                                                         (5 x 4 = 20 marks)

 

  1. Distinguish between traditional economics and environmental economics.
  2. Explain the concept global warming.
  3. What is meant by thermal shock?
  4. Bring out the significance of recycling of waste.
  5. Give an account of Solid Waste Pollution.
  6. Distinguish between first generation and second generation pesticides with suitable examples.
  7. Bring out the classification of industries according to the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board.

PART – B

 

Answer any FOUR questions in about 250 words each                                                    (4 x 10 = 40 marks)

 

  1. Examine the property rights and Coasean bargaining problem.
  2. How do you treat environmental quality as a public good?
  3. Bring out the environmental consequences of rural – urban migration.
  4. Discuss the causes and consequences of water pollution. Suggest remedies.
  5. Explain the organization and structure of the ecosystem.
  6. Bring out the four central goals of any economic system and establish the relationship between environment and the economy.
  7. Highlight the significance of Environmental Education and training in India.

PART – C

Answer any TWO questions in about 750 words each                                                       (2 x 20 = 40 marks)

 

  1. Examine the consent sustainable Development with a special reference to India.
  2. Explain ‘Maximum Social Welfare’ concept with a special reference to Environmental Economics.
  3. Examine Command and Control Approach and Economic Instruments to control pollution.
  4. Evaluate our agricultural performance since independence and bring out India’s environmental policy towards Indian agriculture.
