  1. Explain the sociolinguistic insights in the real but exotic world of the north-west Amazon.
  2. Critically consider the sociolinguistic position that “there is no real distinction to be drawn between ‘language’ and ‘dialect’”.
  3. Examine the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis in the context of language and thought.
