Native of Village Garli (First Heritage Village), Tehsil Dehra Gopipur, District Kangra, H.P., was born in Shimla on 23^rd August, 1961. An alumni of St. Edward School, Shimla, Graduated with Honours in History from Government Degree College, Shimla. Obtained Degree in Law from H.P. University, Shimla. Enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1986. Practiced in various Courts, including Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, in Constitutional, Taxation, Corporate, Criminal and Civil matters. Appeared as Counsel in the Inter-State water Dispute (BBMB Project) in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Discharged Constitutional duties as Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh from 1998 to 2003. Was designated as Senior Advocate in the year 1999. Remained on the Senior Panel for Central Government, Supreme Court of India. Elevated as Judge of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, on 8^th March, 2007. Remained Chairman of H.P. High Court Legal Services Committee. Presently also discharging statutory duties as Executive Chairman of H.P. State Legal Services Authority and member of the Board of Governors, Himachal Pradesh Judicial Academy. Assumed charge of the office of the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh with effect from 25^thApril, 2017 (forenoon).
