Worked as Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (R.S.S.) in Gorakhpur for 5 year from 1963-1968; elected National Vice-President, Bharatiya Janata Party on 16 April 2010; was Organizing Secretary, Bharatiya Jan Sangh at Azamgarh Centre in 1968; worked as a Convenor of ‘Sampurna Kranti’(Total Revolution) started by late Jai Prakash Narain in eastern Uttar Pradesh in 1974; was detained in jail at Deoria under MISA from July 4, 1975 to February 4, 1977 during Emergency; Elected National President, All India Janata Yuva Morcha, a youth organization of Janata Party in December 1978; National Convenor, Yuva Sangathan Samanvaya Samiti in August 1979; Member:- (i) Indian Goodwill Delegation to Russia, North Korea, Japan, China and Hong Kong, March 1979; and (ii) Parliamentary Delegation to participate in the 59th Session of the U.N. General Assembly, 2004; visited Dallas (U.S.A.) as the Chief Guest at the International Hindi Convention; was Chairman, Legislative Harmony Committee, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and a Member of various Committees. Was Convenor of a Sub-Committee on “Uttaranchal Nirman Samiti” of the Council of Ministers (Government of Uttar Pradesh); As the Minister of Public Works and Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh, formulated the Road Development Policy in Uttar Pradesh. For the first time got the link roads constructed in maximum number of villages under the “Deen Dayal Link Road Scheme” and set a record by constructing more than 120 bridges. Also brought about road revolution by raising the road levels, improving and widening the highways at a large scale and by carrying out “Pothole-less Road” Campaign; In the field of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh received the “Best Performing State in the Country” award for the first time from the Prime Minister; Have served as in-charge, B.J.P. of U.P., Delhi and Rajasthan from 2003 to 2004 and Bihar in 2007 and Himachal Pradesh from 2010 – 2012 and also was the All India Vice President of B.J.P. |
