Hon’ble Justice Mir Dara Sheko

Born in village Mollarpur in the District of Birbhum on 11th day of February, 1956 in an ordinary family of a Court Employee, who retired as a Head Clerk of the District Judge’s Court, Birbhum
After completion of schooling at Rampurhat, graduated in Arts in the year 1974 from Rampurhat College under the University of Burdwan

Then migrated to Calcutta University for taking admission in L.L.B Course for the session of 1976-79 and taking admission in the Jogesh Chandra Choudhury College of Law under University of Calcutta, obtained LL.B Degree in 1980

Enrolled as an Advocate under Bar Council of West Bengal on 21st April, 1981 and joined in the Legal profession on 4th May, 1981, in the Birbhum District Court at Suri as a chamber junior of renowned Senior Advocate Bejoy Ratna Dey, since deceased

During practising career, dealt with several civil suits, civil appeals, Land Acquisition cases, and selected Criminal cases only of quasi civil in nature

Thereafter, appeared in the then selection process of Judicial Service conducted by the High Court in 1987 to fill up the vacancies of the year of 1985 from the eligible practising Advocates, and, being selected, joined in the Judicial Service on probation on 25th day of January, 1988 and started journey with the first posting by presiding over the then Sub-Divisional Munsif Court Bankura, and, thereafter, held several postings on transfer to several districts to deal with either civil or criminal cases in the cadre of the then Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate, and also in the next cadre of Subordinate-cum-Assistant Sessions Judge, presently known as Civil Judge (Senior Division), till before next promotional posting in the year 2003 to the cadre of District Judge (Entry Level)

Being in the cadre of District Judge, held postings of regular Sessions Courts and also of the designated court under N.D.P.S Act

Assigned with the administrative post in High Court as the Central Project Coordinator for computerization under e-courts project in the Subordinate Courts all over West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islandsunder guidance of the High Power Committee, High Court, Calcutta

Held posting of District Judge twice, once of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and, the other of the District Paschim Medinipur

Entrusted with the assignment of the Member Secretary, West Bengal State Legal Services Authority from 08.06.2012 to 11.06.2013 to implement the concept provided within the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 as well as the Mediation process and the duties and responsibilities of the Member Secretary SLSA have been successfully discharged under guidance of the Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority and the Chairman of the Mediation Committee High Court, Calcutta respectively

On the way to such long journey with an unblemished career as a Judicial Officer, lastly entered in the Registry of the High Court on 11.06.2013 at first as the Registrar (Judicial Service), and, thereafter carried out with charge of the Registrar General High Court, Calcutta w.e.f. 26.06.2013 till before elevation as Judge in the High Court at Calcutta.

Elevated as Additional Judge, High Court at Calcutta on 30.03.2015

Appointed as Permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court on 06.10.2016.
