Introduction : Elevated as Additional Judge, Gujarat High Court on the 12th November, 2012.
Born on 2nd February, 1957 at Mehsana in Gujarat in the family of lawyers since generations. Son of Gunvantlal M. Shah, a leading lawyer of Mehsana. Graduated in B.Sc. with Microbiology as main and Chemistry as subsidiary subjects in the year 1977. Obtained Law Degree in the year 1981 with Labour Laws and also did LL.M. with Constitution, in the year 1987.
Enrolled as an Advocate in the month of December, 1981 at Mehsana, Gujarat and continued his practice as an Advocate till February, 1997. During this period, practiced almost on all sides like Civil, Constitutional, Revenue, etc., in various Courts, Tribunals and Commissions, which include High Court of Gujarat, Bombay High Court, National Consumer Commission, etc. Was first amongst the advocates, who adopted computer technology as early as in year 1985.
In March, 1997, was directly appointed as a Judge of the City Civil & Sessions Court, Ahmadabad by invitation. Was sent to Supreme Court of India for Classification of Cases at Supreme Court in 1997. Had also attended the conference on ‘SAAP Technology’ at Kathmandu in 1997.
As a quick learner and his everlasting passion for learning about Computer and IT Field made him a perfect Computer Savvy and he has been instrumental in implementing the project of computerization in New Gujarat High Court Complex.
During his service as Registrar (Infrastructure & I.T.), Gujarat High Court, had worked on administrative side for infrastructure requirements (buildings for Court Complex and Residential Quarters etc.) of entire State Judiciary, Rule making process of Gujarat High Court, Accounts with Financial Management of Gujarat High Court. Worked on Cyber Crimes & Cyber Laws and prepared report on the subject to comment on Information Technology Act, 2000.
He was also appointed as Special Judge, CBI Court, Ahmedabad.
Thereafter, was appointed as Registrar (Courts & Computers), Supreme Court of India on deputation. His deep knowledge and vast experience contributed a lot in implementing computerization projects in so many Courts like Supreme Court of India, Madras High Court, Gujarat High Court, and all District Courts of Gujarat. He was appointed as Member of the Standing Committee of the Supreme Court of India for monitoring E-Committee for computerization of entire judiciary in the country. He was In-Charge of E-Committee of Supreme Court of India, looking after computerization of Courts throughout India under e-Court Project. Had developed e-Court for the first time in India. Had exercised limited powers for interlocutory orders as per Supreme Court Rules, 1966. Had also attended ‘Asia-Pacific Courts conference, 2010’ at Singapore.
Elevated as Additional Judge, Gujarat High Court on the 12th day of November, 2012 and confirmed as Permanent Judge on 10th July, 2014.
