JEE Main 2014 Answer Key Challenge

Out of 11.85 Lacs candidates who took JEE Main Offline Exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education on 6th April, 2014 1100 candidates filed challenges citing errors against the JEE Main 2014 answer keys published by CBSE in its website jeemain.nic.in. While some students challenged 2 questions each in physics and mathematics majority of them challenged for 2 errors found in physics question paper. CBSE has to answer minimum 2 errors found in JEE Main question paper for which all should get equal marks whether attempted or not. Or, These questions should be eliminated for valuation purpose. Moreover, CBSE should have taken precaution in setting error free question paper as this is an important national level examination.

The answer keys were provided on JEE Main website to students for verifying and challenging with a fee of Rs 1,000 per question. As per CBSE, if the challenge is accepted and corrected by the Board, the fee shall be refunded to the challenging candidate. While all the questions are same for all candidates the justification of collecting challenging fee from each candidate is questionable.

JEE main is conducted for the 2nd time in India and around 11.85 lacs students took the offline test held on 6th April 2014. While JEE Main scores will be directly used for admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes in all NITs and other centrally funded technical (CFTs) and engineering other institutions, the top 1.5 lakh candidates of this test will be eligible to take JEE Advanced exam for admissions into IITs, to be held on May 25, 2014.
