PART – I

Answer ALL questions. Answer to each question should not exceed 50 words. Each
question carries 2 marks.
- What is an inductive method of reasoning? Give an example.
- List any 4 features of a good hypothesis.
- What is a dependent variable? Explain with an example.
- What is a pictorial questionnaire? Give an example.
- List any 4 important features of the descriptive – diagnostic design.

Answer any TWO questions. Answer to each question should not exceed 300 words. Each
question carries 10 marks.
- What are the different types of observation that can be used in the study of a tribal community? Explain with examples.
- Explain the stratified sampling proportion to size method with an example.
- Discuss the need for qualitative research in the field of Social Work.

- Prepare a tentative interview schedule for a study on “The Socio Economic condition of women domestic workers living in Dhideer Nagar Slum”.
- Explain the differences between Conventional Research and PRA.

- Prepare a tentative interview schedule for a study on the Socio-economic problems of the Tsunami affected Fishermen families at Pulicat area.
- There are 240 families living in Urikara Nayakkan settlement area near Chennai. Hundred families are still engaged in traditional occupation of making hair wigs. Eighty families are involved in other jobs like coolies, vegetable or fruit sellers and domestic work. Sixty families are involved in both traditional work and other part time jobs. You have to study the Living conditions and Health status of the Urikara Nayakkan Community with 100 families as your sample size. Explain any three sampling strategies that can be adopted for selecting the 100 families
