Hariharappa; b. at Harihar Town and Taluk, Chitradurga District, October 20, 1926; ed. at Central College, Bangalore and Law College, Bangalore; m. Smt. Lalitha Ranganath, June 1958; 2 s. and 4 d.; Advocate and Agriculturist; previously associated with Socialist Party and P.S.P.; underwent imprisonment in 1942 Quit India Movement; Minister for Transport, Cooperation, Housing and Bangalore Water Supply and Agriculture, Govt. of Karnataka, 1973-80; Vice President, Pradesh Congress, 1971-72 and its President in 1972—October 1974; Member, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, 1962-84; Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, January, 1981—January, 1983; visited USSR in 1973 as President of ISCUS and again in 1980; attended (i) World Peace  Conference at Budapest, (ii) Parliamentary Conference held at Helsinki and (iii) Commonwealth Speakers’ Conference in Bahamas in 1982.
