TAMIL NADU PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission was referred as Madras Public Service Commission in the year 1957 with its headquarters at Madras. The commission consists with three members including the chairman. The mission of the commission is to have free, fair and transparent recruitment among the Indian Civil Servants. Yearly, they update the methodology of recruitment.
The commission conducts various exams for different posts in the state. A few of the exams conducted by them are;
- Group I Services Examination
- Group II A Services Examination
- Group IV Services Examination
- VAO Examination
Group I Services Examination
The Examination is mainly conducted for the posts Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner and Assistant Director of Rural Development Department
Eligibility Criteria:
The aspirants attending the exam must have a degree from any recognized University/Institution
Selection Procedure:
The Candidates must attend three successive stages
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Written Examination
- Interview
Group IV Services Examination
The Examination is mainly conducted for the posts for Junior Assistant, Bill Collector, Typist and Field Surveyor
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must have a General Educational Qualification of completing S.S.L.C examination with a minimum pass percentage
As the posts is for Typists, the aspirant must have “Certification of computer on Office Automation” given by the Technical Education Department
Aspirant must have passed the Government Technical Examination in typewriting and in shorthand in Higher/Senior Grade in Tamil and English
Selection Procedure:
Applicants must attend an written examination that constitute General knowledge &General Tamil/General English and the duration of three hours. The marks needed for qualifying is 90.
Group 2A Services Examination
The Examination is mainly conducted for the posts for Assistant and Junior Co-operative Auditor
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must have a degree in any recognized University/Institutions
Selection Procedure:
Applicant must undergo two stages, they are
- Written Examination
- Document Verification
VAO Examination
The Examination is mainly conducted for the posts of Village Administrative Officers
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must pass the S.S.L.C examination or any higher Secondary or College Examination
Selection Procedure
Village Administrative Officer are selected based on written examination and marks obtained by them
How to Apply
- Candidates who are likely to register for the exam must visit the Commission website: www.tnpsc.gov.in
- One Time Registration is mandatory for applying for any of the posts.
- The scanned copy of the photo and signature is needed for registering
- Valid mobile number and email id is mandatory
- Fill the necessary detail in the online application form provided
- After completion of the application form, the payment must be done. The applicant can choose any mode of payment convenient for them
Career Guidance
The aspirants should be ready to choose the right post for them based on their educational qualification and all the test contains written examination based on their education .The written test contains general aptitude and mental ability tests .The candidate must have more knowledge about the languages English and Tamil. The candidate can also choose their preferred language for the written examination. The examination is of the objective type and the marks are of 200 and the duration is two hours. The candidate must have good time management for attending the exam.
