JEE Main is one of the known engineering entrance exam given by more than a million aspirants. It’s a dream for every aspirant to crack it with a good score and get admission in one of the best engineering college.
Exam has 90 multiple choice questions, where each question weights 4 marks. Every question has 4 multiple choices, among which only one is correct. So every correct answer will award a sum of 4 marks to your total but what if you get it incorrect?
A penalty of -1 is penalized for every incorrect answer, which makes the exam not as straight forward as it sounds like. In a time interval of 3 hours (180 minutes), attempting all 90 questions is not at all an easy task. You need to be fast as well as accurate, since every incorrect answer can make a big difference in your total as well as your ALL INDIA RANK.
If you are accurate with your answers, avoiding negative marking, you can easily score above 200 out of 360. If we will talk about scoring 250 and more, is it possible?
Yes it’s possible and can be achieved, if you are well prepared for JEE Mains exam. You just need to apply your concepts in the problems and answer the questions in which you are pretty sure. You should avoid negative marking by avoiding any wild guesses. Every incorrect answer, when compared to a correct answer gets you a good difference of 5 marks (4 positive for correct and 1 negative which you get penalized for incorrect). Hence, you are highly advised to answer the ones which you are sure about and leave the ones that seem confusing or unsure.
Getting 250 marks out of 360 is similar to climbing a hill top. Every correct step will lead you closer to the top but every incorrect step pulls you down, away from it.
With a lot of practice and a planned study, you can achieve this feat. Your efforts, confidence and your presence of mind are the keys to score high. Your efforts (practice) will help you gain good confidence in solving multiple choice questions. It will also develop your presence of mind that can help you to avoid negatives.
We can say that, 250 is neither too much (that one can’t think to achieve), nor too less (that one can achieve way too easily). It requires efforts, presence of mind, confidence and proper way of approach towards numerical/ theoretical problems, avoiding negatives.
Set a target of 250 and more, gear up to give the best of your efforts, solve problems, go through the basic concepts and gain a good confidence. At the exam day, you just need to pick the correct ones, not being greedy and you will get close to your target for sure.
A smart way of approach is avoiding the negatives and collecting the positives. It’s not a risk and return deal. It’s more of award of marks for correctness and surety.
