SECTION A
I Comment on the Significance of the following lines: 8×5=40

- 9. Examine the dynamic aspects of the moves made by Odysseus in his attempts to outwit Polyphemus as seen in Homer’s Odyssey Book IX.
- Discuss the significance of the title of Aristophanes’ The Frogs .
- “The poem is the most comprehensive, creative mythological work that has come down to us from antiquity” -Attempt a brief appreciation of Ovid’s Metamorphosis in the light of this statement.
- Harry believes two opposing natures battle over possession of him, a man and a wolf, high and low, spirit and animal – Discuss.
- “When will we have mothers who rejoice at sending their children to death? ” Explain the significance of these words of Maxim Gorky in his Classic, Mother.

III Attempt any Two of the following in about 500 words each: 2×15=30
- Analyse Ibsen’s A Doll’s House as a Problem Play in its successful passing of a death- sentence on accepted social norms.
- Discuss the social, political, emotional and psychological insecurities that Dido is left with following Aeneas’ desertion.
- Comment on the Literary genre and style of the Book of Job
