  6. Explain Parsons’ conception of Action, Interaction and Institutionalization.
  7. Explain the four functional imperatives, proposed by Parsons that are necessary for all systems.

  1. Explain Parsonian Structural Functionalism and evaluate the major criticism of structural functionalism proposed by Ritzer.
  2. Examine in detail how Comte presented his three stages of social development ‘mentalistically’.
  3. Critically evaluate Weber’s structures of authority.
  4. Examine in detail how Goffman perceived the self as the product of a dramatic interaction between actor and audience.
