About Bishnupur District :
The Bishnupur district with its headquarter at Bishnupur was formed on 25-05-1983. The total geographical area of the District is 530 Sq. Km. It is bounded on the North by Imphal West District, on the South by Churachandpur District, on the East by Imphal and Thoubal Districts. There are 64 Revenue villages in the District. For a better and convenient administration the District is divided into three Sub-Divisions , viz (1) Bishnupur Sub-Division with its HQ at Bishnupur and (2) Moirang Sub-Division with its HQ at Moirang and (3) Nambol Sub-Division with its HQ at Nambol. There are 6 (six) SDC Circles in the district. Nambol, Oinam and Bishnupur circles are situated within Bishnupur Sub-Division. Ningthoukhong, Moirang ang Kumbi circles are situated within Moirang Sub-Division. As for the convenience of developmental activities of the rural areas there are two C.D Blocks, namely (1) Bishnupur C.D. Block with its HQ at Bishnupur and (2) Moirang C.D Block with its HQ at Moirang Khunou. The places of tourist interests in the district are Vishnu Temple, Keibul Lamjao National Park, Loktak Lake, INA Memorial, Phuballa Resort and Loukoipat Ecological Park.

Keibul Lamjao National Park :
Kelbul Lamjao National Park is situated 53km from Imphal on the fringes of Loktak Lake.
The only floating National Park in the World, on the Loktak Lake is the last natural habitat of “Sangai” – the dancing deer of Manipur . A glimpse of the deer in this unique wetland ecosystem is a must for any wildlife enthusiast. Other wildlife : Hog Deer, Otter and a host of water fowls and migratory birds can also be sighted during November to March. The Forest Department maintains watch towers and two rest houses within the park.
