About Diu District :

Diu is island situated slightly off the coast of Kathiawad near the Port of Veraval in Gujarat with a coastal length of 21 kms. and is at a distance of about 768 kms. from Daman, the Capital of the Union Territory of Daman and Diu. Diu is bounded by Gir-Somnath and Amreli District of Gujarat in the North and by the Arabian Sea from three sides. It is connected to the mainland via two bridges. The total Geographical Area of Diu is 40 Sq.Kms. As per the Census 2011, the total populalation of Diu is 52,074 out of which 25,642 are male where as remaining 26,432 are female. The island of Diu is the blissful confluence of silver sands and the golden sun. Bits of the island are reminiscent of Portuguese history, because it was a Portuguese colony until 1961. Historically an important trading post and naval base, Diu is a destination for those who like to seek, not just places, but souls. It’s replete with majestic beaches, whitewashed fishing cottages and excellent roads. The places of tourist interests in Diu are The Diu Fort, St. Paul’s Church, Naida Caves and Nagoa Beach etc
