About Khunti District :

The Khunti district, earlier a sub-division of Ranchi district was carved out of Ranchi district and created on 12th September 2007 as the 23rd district of Jharkhand. Khunti district is located at 23°04’19?N 85°16’49?E to the south of Jharkhand. Khunti is said to be the Entertainment Zone of State Capital Ranchi. Khunti is surrounded by Ranchi & Gumla districts in the north, Chaibasa & Seraikela districts in the south, Ranchi & Saraikela districts in the east, Gumla & Simdega districts in the west. Ranchi the capital city of Jharkhand is just 35 kms from Khunti city. A village of Khunti district, called Ulihatu, is the birth place of the “Dharti Aaba” of Jharkhand Bhagwan Birsa Munda. According to 2011 Census, the total population of the district is 5.298 Lakhs. Out of which 2.65 Lakh is Male and 2.64 Lakh female population. The most important places to visit in the district are Panchgagh Fall ( Water fall ), Anganbari –Shiv Temple, Dombari Buru, Ulihatu Hill, GEL Church –Sarvda, Rani Fall, Perwaghagh Fall, and BirsaMrigVihar / Deer Park

Panchgagh Fall ( Water fall ) : :

 

One of the most unique waterfalls of Khunti, Panchghagh has 5 streams to it. The Banai River branches itself out in five different streams, generating ubiquitous singing rivulets through the cluster of rocks.Natural beauty around the waterfall makes it more beautiful and peaceful.The water falls from a lesser height, making it safe for tourists to enjoy in the rapid flow of water. It’s a hot spot for picnic in Jharkhand, people from different regions even from nearby state visit the place for picnic.Toruist spot is open for whole year but high time is drom the month of October- March.

How to reach-Panchghagh Falls is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Khunti  districtheadquater on the road to Chaibasa. It is 55 kilometres (34 km) from Ranchi. It is located title=”National Highway 75 (India)”>NH 75 or Ranchi-Chaibasa Highway

Anganbari –Shiv Temple :It is famous religious center of the district known for its Shiv Temple. Every year during Sawan season local festival is celebrate for one month long.On Maha-shivratri Day, temple is visited by many disciples from different regions of Jharkhand. It is located on Khunti-Torpa road 9 kms from the district headquater.

How to reach– By road its 30 kms from Ranchi state capital and 9km from Khunti district headquater.

Dombari Buru :

 

It is picturesque hills of Dombari Buru, which had turned red with blood when BirsaMunda led his legendary ulgulan(rebellion) against the British more than a century ago, will now get a sterling facelift, courtesy.Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).It is located 50km from the state capital, Dombari Buru rises determinedly above Sail Rakab village close to Ulihatu — the birthplace of the tribal icon

Ulihatu Hill : 

Ulihatu, is the birth place of the “DhartiAaba” of Jharkhand BhagwanBirsaMunda. He initiated freedom fight in 1835.It is located 37 km towards North from district head quarter and further 80 kms from state capital Ranchi .Ulihatu is surrounded by Burmu Block towards East , Mandar Block towards South , Chanho Block towards west , Patratu Block towards East . Ulihatu village is surrounded by Hills and scenic beauty around is amazing. It also has sunset point near the village which is unexplored by tourist.

How to reach : By road t is 40 kms from district headquarter and 30 kms from Murhu block headquarter. By Train – nearest station is Karra

imageGEL Church –Sarvda :It is an old church established during British period . British infrastructure and interior can be seen in this Church. It is located in Sarvda Panchayat of Murhu block surrounded by forest area.

How to reach: By road 14 kms from Murhum block headquater and 25 kms from district headquater.

imageRani Fall :This waterfall is located on Khunti-Tamad road 20kms from the district headquarter. It is located on Tajnariver. Rani fall is known for its slow river flow with sand bank around which makes it safe for tourist.

How to reach- By road it is 70 km from Ranchi state capital and 20 kms from Tamad . It is situated in Khunti-Tamad road.

imagePerwaghagh Fall :It is a beautiful waterfall with clear water flow on Chatariver in Fatka panchayat of Torpa in Khunti district. It is known that the word “Perwa” denotes Pigeon and “ghagh“ means home which depicts the “House of Pigeons” inside the waterfall. It is still believed that these pigeons live inside the waterfall.

How to reach-     It is 40 kms from Khunti district headquater by road.

imageBirsaMrigVihar / Deer Park :The BirsaMrigVihar is located in a beautiful sal forest of Kalamati of Khunti district and in hardly 20 Kms away from the Capital city in the Ranchi-Khunti road. The geography and vegetation provides a natural habitat for the deer for breeding in captivity. The MrigVihar is spread in an area of about 54 acre and is geographically located at 23011 .85’ North latitude and 8501 60.92’ East latitude. The BirsaMrigVihar has never looked back in attracting tourists from the year 1987 when the doors were opened for the tourists. MrigVihar has been tourist attraction for its natural beauty and close prominently to Ranchi and Khunti.It is the only park in Khunti district which is known exclusive for its cross breeding center for chital and Indian Sambhar.
