Medak District is located in the state of Telangana. Sangareddi is the district headquarters of Medak and Siddipet is the most populour city. Medak district occupies an area of approximately 9,699 square kilometres. The population of the district is 3,033,288 s per Census 2011. The District is bounded on East by Warangal and Nalgonda Districts, on the South by Rangareddy district, on the West by Bidar district of Karnataka State and on the North by Nizamabad District. The district is located at 18.03° N 78.27° E and it has an average elevation of 442 metres. The main river of the District is Manjeera. Medak district is a backward district with more than eighty percent of the population dependenton agriculture. The places of tourist interest in the district are Siddipet, Zaheerabad, Jharasangam, Nizam Sagar Dam, Archaeological Museum, Medak Cathedral, Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple, Medak Fort, Koti Lingeswara Swamy Temple, Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary, Ramalingeswara Temple, Pocharam Reservoir, Shri Saraswathi Skshtramu, Gottam Gutta Hill, Edithanur Cave, Velupugonda Sri Tumburunatha Devalayam, and Alladrug.
